Today is the first day of a life changing journey and I am eager to begin my dissertation process. I am truly proud of myself for completing all of the coursework for the PhD Industrial/Organizational Psychology program at Walden University. My specialization is Leadership Development and Coaching. Oh by the way, I was able to receive a Master of Science in this program when I completed the coursework for the PhD (major excited!!!).
This past weekend I was on a roller-coaster with my emotions as I began to review the requirements for the dissertation course this quarter. I began to make my schedule and started thinking about quitting. I also questioned myself as to why I am doing this. I reached out to my mentors and when speaking with Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, she told me that “quitting is not an option“. After my conversation with her, I felt I could go a little further. I admit that this journey has not been an easy one and as I continue with it, there will be many challenges.
I have made up in my mind to embrace this journey and #Grow through it! This morning I set the foundation for my day by praying, reading scriptures, meditating, yoga stretching, doing Sudoku, indulging in mint refresh tea, and reading Week 1 of Breakfast with Fred by Fred Smith, Sr. (mentor to a generation of leaders).
It is my goal to share my #DissertationJourney with you at least once weekly. So, fasten your seat-belt and prepare for a life changing experience!
