It’s that time again where I share my #DissertationJourney with you! It has been two months since I last posted. I have been so focused on revising my proposal that I failed to provide you all with an update. There were many days since I last posted where I felt like I was going in circles with the revisions. Today, I am pleased to say that what seemed to be like a merry go round resulted in my proposal being approved on the first review. OMG! When I saw that email about 4:20am today, I burst into tears.

On April 11th, my chair approved for my proposal to be sent to the University Research Reviewer (URR). And every day since then, I had been waiting in expectation for feedback. Every time my email notification went off, I looked with great anticipation. On this morning, I did not feel like getting out of the bed to use the restroom. After a few minutes of rationalizing, I got up. On my way back to the bed, I looked at my tablet and saw I had an email. I barely opened my eyes to see it (I was trying to keep my eyes close so I wouldn’t’ wake up…lol). When I saw these words, “The URR has determined the proposal has met all rubric criteria and is ready to advance to the Proposal Oral Presentation”; I immediately jumped out of the bed and began thanking God. I felt such a relief because I had made it to a point in my dissertation journey that seemed so hard to get to.

After trying to avoid waking up, I was on an all-time high! I turned on my computer and submitted my presentation slides to my chair for review. Then, I submitted inquiry of when I will need to present. All day I have been basking in obtaining this great milestone. It is such a great feeling to know that the countless hours, days, and sacrifices have been worth it. I did not have to do any revisions after my proposal reached the University level. I have truly endured this process so far; even when I wanted to quit. Today, I encourage you to endure the challenges. Sometimes you might have to take a few moments to step back and gather yourself. It is okay to do so! KNOW that all things work together for good! You will prevail!

As always, I am excited to share my dissertation journey with you. I ask that you share this blog with someone else. We all are going through some type of journey and this might be the encouragement you or that person need to go a litter further. Let’s encounter this life changing experience together!
